A newly installed preacher arrived at the church and found only one man sitting in the congregation.

He went out to meet him and asked, “Should i go through with it?”

“I’m just an outbreak farmer.” said the man, “and i don’t know much about that kinda thing, but i do know this. If i hauled a wagonload of hay out on to the paddock and only one cow showed up, I’d surely feed her”.

Getting the message, the preacher nodded, returned to the pulpit and began the service. After nearly an hour of non stop sermonizing, he asked the farmer, “What do you think, how did it go?”

“Well, I’m just an outback farmer and i don’t know much about that kinda thing.” the man replied, “but i do know this. If i hauled a wagon load of hay out on to the paddock and only one cow showed up, I’d surely not feed her the whole load”.
